About Brighton and Hove Integrated Care Service (BICS)
The Challenge
BICS needed a secure, purpose-built system to manage growing volumes of patient information and track referrals from initial receipt through to appointment arrangements. Its existing setup combined a system acquired from another NHS organisation with disconnected spreadsheets, resulting in duplicated data entry and information that was difficult to analyse. Handling around 1,000 referrals each week, the team needed clear oversight of patient progress to support its target of making contact and progressing referrals within three days. Integration with NHS Choose & Book was also essential to reduce administration and maintain continuity of patient information.
